Quarter Final 2

Saxilby 2 St Hugh's 1

qf2-pic1.jpgTwo excellent teams provided the Sincil Bank crowd with an entertaining game as Saxilby and St Hugh's went head-to-head in the second quarter final. Saxilby took an early lead when Kai Benson's corner was turned in from close range by Lewis Kelly, but St Hugh's responded immediately as Callum Jagger-Limbert shot wide of the post. With both teams competing fiercely in midfield, chances were limited to a long range effort from Lewis Corner which Matthew Kerridge in the St Hugh's goal handled well.

St Hugh's enjoyed lots of possession, Joe Shuttleworth and Jaydn Rowe moving the ball well, but Saxilby were always a threat on the break. Charlie Coyle then forced a brilliant save from Saxilby's Lewis Benson before Lewis Corner's shot was blocked at the other end.

Another quick Saxilby counter attack then found Chris Ranshaw who cleverly tricked his way through a number of tackles before rounding Matthew Kerridge and slotting the ball into an empty net to extend the lead. But there was still time for a late consolation as Jaydn Rowe converted Charlie Coyle's low cross with the last kick of the game.

Well done to St Hugh's for a spirited display and congratulations to a very strong Saxilby side who will now face Manor Leas in the first semi-final in March.qf2-pic3.jpgqf2-pic2.jpg
