Dominos Cup

Sir Francis Hill 0 St Johns BBH 0

sirfstjoteam.jpgOn a very wet Saturday afternoon the reigning Champions of the Domino’s Tournament, Sir Francis Hill, returned to Sincil Bank for their first round match against St John’s Bracebridge Heath.

Sir Francis Hill wasted no time in trying to secure their place in the next round with Tom Cockett striking the ball and forcing St Johns goalkeeper, Daniel Tuffs, to make a great double save.    St Johns came back with a great effort from Callum Smith who attempted to head the ball back into the goal from a goal kick, but went just over the cross bar.  Aaron Baker also had a shot from the left wing which was going wide but the Sir Francis Hill goalkeeper, Cameron Langham, wasn’t to know that and put the ball out for a corner.

With the close encounter nearing the end Sir Francis Hill came out with shots from anywhere as Tom Cockett smashed one against the cross bar, Sam Smith forced the goalkeeper to make a save and put the ball out for a corner.  From the corner Sam Smith was there with another shot, this time heading the ball just over the cross bar.

With the game ending 0-0 Sir Francis Hill were put through to the next round with most shots on target.
