Dominos Cup

William Alvey 1 Welton 1

willaweltteam.jpgIt’s the first time these two schools have ever played in the Domino’s Half Time Tournament.  They came out to a dry but very cold afternoon.  Welton didn’t waste any time in attacking William Alveys goal, as their first goal came from a great strike from Callum Gray within a couple of minutes of the match kicking off.

The goal was followed up by more shots from Welton from Daniel Clark, Jack Bullivant and Callum Gray.  William Alvey then won possession back and a great run on the right wing from Robbie Allen saw his cross blocked by Owen Parry and go out for a corner.  The corner was taken but was put out again by Welton to give William Alvey another corner which was cleared out of the danger area.

willaweltaction.jpgA few minutes from the end saw William Alvey make a substitution to bring on Jacob Fenton.  30 seconds after being on the pitch a shot was fired which George Hunter blocked only for it to fall for Jacob Fenton to fire into the goal.

Some excellent defending from Owen Parry prevented William Alvey getting any more shots on goal.  As the final whistle went the score ended up being 1-1.  The game was extremely close as both teams also drew with 2 shots on target.  The team who goes through to the next round is William Alvey.  They edged it by having 2 corners to Weltons 1.
