Children reap the rewards of our "Healthy Habits" day...
We've been taking our brilliant "Healthy Habits" scheme into Primary schools for over two years now and the scheme is set to continue into 2008/09. Funded by our partners Lincolnshire Co-op, the scheme is designed to help children understand more about eating a good balanced diet and living a healthy lifestyle. Plus, we can also deliver a follow-up on the theme of "Unhealthy Habits" where we discuss the dangers of smoking, drinking, drugs as well as what makes an unhealthy diet.
Healthy Habits day...
Morning Classroom workshop - Healthy foods - How our body works - the 'Food Plate'
Afternoon Exercise and activity - practical fun-based PE session
Each workshop uses interactive visual aids to stimulate the children and encourage participation from everyone. Here, the Imps' Lee Frecklington lends a hand on our giant 'Food Plate' at Wragby Primary School. Our practical sessions are based around exercise and the need to keep yourself active, using football as a focal point, children will learn basic ball skills and techniques which they can then develop further. We also looks closely at fundamental motor skills - balance, agility and coordination - learning more about our body mechanics and how we can improve the way we control our movement.
