Community Imps lend a hand to help beat truancy problem

Local primary school has been running an incentive scheme for its pupils to help beat the problem of truancy and Lincoln City's Community team was on hand to help promote the campaign.
Myle Cross Junior School, in St Giles, Lincoln, received criticism in their last Ofsted report for having one of the lowest attendance records in the country. So in an effort to boost morale, Jon Brown, a teacher at the school, introduced a reward scheme to encourage pupils to improve their attendance. "We're working very hard at Myle Cross to improve our attendance figures," said Jon. "There are many factors which motivate children, and we are trying lots of ways to help our children recognise why its important to come to school," he added. "We had a fun-day recently, and Lincoln City's Community Team were on hand to teach a few tricks and skills with the pupils. The football club has also kindly donated some signed footballs which we've been presenting each week in assembly to children with excellent attendance." Pictured here are pupils from the school who took part in some of the Community Imps activities during the day.
