Imps stars support our Kick It Out workshops

bishopking-1.jpgYoungsters at Bishop King Primary School had the chance to meet Imps stars Danny Hone and Shane Clarke recently as part of our One Game One Community week of action.

The players dropped in to meet staff and pupils and to support one of a number of Kick It Out workshops the Community Imps team is providing as part of the FA's national campaign to eliminate racism and discrimination from football.

"At Bishop King we have lots of non-English speaking pupils from lots of different ethnic backgrounds and cultures," explained Kate Geary, Headteacher at the school. "The idea that we can use sport, and particularly football, as a model for working together and respecting each other as individuals is fantastic," she added.

The workshop formed part of the Community Imps team's ongoing work in the school, providing structured PE lessons as part of the school curriculum. Mike Catterson, class teacher in Year 4 which took part in the workshop, believes the scheme will have a really positive effect on his pupils. "Its brilliant to be able to educate and influence children on this subject at such an early age, and before they become infected with other people's opinions. It gives youngsters a great start in life from which they can guide their behaviour and attitudes to each other.lancaster_1.jpg"

Other schools taking part include The Lancaster (pictured here with Community Imps Coach Damian Froggatt) and Morton Trentside, Gainsborough.
